VISALIA, CA, October 27, 2009—Mayor, Jesus Gamboa, of Visalia, California will proclaim Wednesday, October 28, 2009, Virtual Education Day to celebrate the grand opening of Central California Connections Academy’s new, expanded, teaching center.
Mayor Gamboa and members of the Visalia Chamber of Commerce will be on hand to officiate the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new teaching center and administrative office that will better serve current and prospective students, and staff. Dr. Jonathan Horowitz—principal of Central California Connections Academy—will offer brief remarks and a reception with light refreshments is scheduled directly following the ceremony. The public is invited to attend this special event.

Central California Connections Academy is a virtual public charter school that serves students in grades K-12 and residing in Fresno, Inyo, Kern, Kings, and Tulare counties. The virtual school was authorized in May 2006 by Alpaugh Unified School District and expects to serve over 175 students in the 2009–10 school year. Parents pay no tuition for students to attend, as students are considered to be enrolled in a public school.
